St. Louis County Health Department - Laboratory Planning and Design

St. Louis County Health Department - Laboratory Planning and Design

The new two-story 93,000-square foot structure was built on the site of the John C. Murphy Health Clinic in Berkeley, Missouri. In addition to providing the community with general healthcare services, the clinic offers a dental clinic, chest clinic, radiology, and pharmaceutical services; as well as specialized care for infants, children, teens and women. Adding complexity to the project was environmental laboratories for air pollution, industrial hygiene, radiation, air quality and monitoring, food, milk, and water analysis. The project was also built to achieve LEED Silver certification with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). It includes high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems. The windows, wall systems and roof provide the building envelope with optimal thermal performance and maximize day lighting. Rapidly reusable materials that were sourced locally were used and construction debris was diverted from the landfill and recycled.
