Jackrel Laboratory - Washington University
This renovation project included a design of 3,718 square foot research and support space for a chemistry laboratory focused on protein misfolding - understanding its development; the relationship to diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s; and the effect of protein remodeling factors on misfolding reversal.
The lab contains the following areas; environmental cold room for cold storage, a dedicated equipment space, a protein synthesizing space, a specialize microscope room with variable lighting and vibration control, and a separated Tissue Room with a biosafety cabinet and emergency backup for sensitive incubator samples. A public use autoclave and student study spaces were also designed into this project.
